Today marks the death of these 3 Civil Rights workers who were assassinated in 1964 when they went to Mississippi to fight for the cause.

It was our own Joseph Sullivan who finally  cracked the case. The movie, “Mississippi Burning” told Joe’s story. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to forge a friendship with this humble man  in the latter part of his life. We were both New York Rotarians.

He once invited me to a meeting of retired FBI agents, (all men) at the New York Raquet Club. He stood up and introduced me, proudly, as the first woman member of the Rotary Club of New York. That was Joe.
