EMPOWERMENT:  Transform Young Lives

On August 26, 2020, the Rotary Club of New York collaborated with the Global Shapers New York Hub (A network of young people within the World Economic Forum driving dialogue, action, and change) conducted its first virtual “Youth Empowerment Session”.

The presenters were Dr. Nouriel Roubini and Vivian James Rigney. Dr. Roubini was one of the very few economists who predicted the 2008 recession. He is a Chairman of Roubini Macro Associates LLC, an economic consultancy firm, and teaches at NYU Stern Business School. Mr.Rigney is a seasoned telecommunication executive and runs an Inside Us executive coaching firm. He has been coaching fortune 500 executives over the past 15 years. On top of that, he is a dedicated mountaineer who climbed the highest peaks on all seven Continents —including Mount Everest. 

The second part of the sessions was moderated by our Rising Stars Young Entrepreneur Mr. Neil Yeoh on behalf of Global Shaper’s NY Hub, and Young Professional Ms.Kayalin Akens-Irby Senior Associate at Malk Partners. Neil is a CEO, Founder of OnePointFive and Sustainability Advisor & Investor and Forbes Columnist. Kaya is an ESG Investor, Poet, and notable Basketball Player. 

These sessions will be coordinated on the fourth Wednesday of each month. We plan other small one or half-day events within our Youth Empowerment Vision, collaborating with youth organizations like Global Shapers NYC Hub. Last but not least, we highly appreciate our Director of Board and Membership Chair Ms. Bolor Tumurchudur for dedicating her time and energy for initiating and developing this project.
